How to prepare Reasoning Ability section for SBI PO 2019 exam?

In SBI PO Prelims 2019, the Reasoning Ability section will have 35 questions where each question will be of one mark. The questions of this section, tests and judges candidate’s ability to apply reason in solving a particular problem in allotted time. Therefore, the students are supposed to develop proper understanding of the logics of the concepts applied and this can be mastered only through practicing of proper techniques of solving the problem. Time management skills are the other major aspect which should be considered seriously.
Going by the past experiences of previous year papers, the frequently asked questions were from topics like Seating Arrangements, Syllogisms, Puzzles, Input-Output, Coding & Decoding, Ordering & Ranking, Inequalities, Directions & Distances, Blood Relations, and Verbal Reasoning etc. So, the students must have got some ideas about the nature of questions but still one can say that the exam pattern has always been unpredictable every year.   1. The frequently asked questions have always been from Circular Seating Arrangement and Linear Seating Arrangements. The students are required to practice these questions and try to solve accurately in minimum time.
  2. Secondly, the questions based on Scheduling and Grouping is also important and they can be solved with the help of table. The students are required to make tables and group things related to row heading, so that they can answer questions correctly.
  3. The questions on Input Output are simple and easier to answer. The students should try to understand the logic and try to apply these logics in finding the accurate answer.
  4. The questions on Puzzles have always proved troublesome for students. It is because one puzzle question is based on mix and match of four and five concepts (seating arrangement, direction, blood relation, double lineup, scheduling etc). To master and understand the questions correctly, the students should practice at least 5-10 questions daily which should be mix and match of 15-20 set of puzzles. You should try to understand the language of the questions properly and try to apply the appropriate logic or method of solving it correctly.

In Data Interpretation topic, the students can expect around 3 to 5 questions and they can be from chapters like Coding and Decoding, Directions & Distances, Ordering & Ranking, Blood Relations etc. The topic of Blood Relations is very important as questions have been repeatedly asked from this topic.
  6. In Analogy topic, the frequently asked questions can be number based, letter based, GK based and meaning based analogies. The students should develop good analytical ability and common sense in solving these questions. It has proved to be the most scoring section and many students have scored well.
  7. In questions based on Relationship Concepts, the cognitive skills of student’s are tested. The student might get perplexed by the length of the questions but the solutions to these questions are reasonably easier, if they apply logics properly. The frequently asked questions are from topics like Single person Blood relation, mixed blood relation, and Coded blood relation.
  8. The problems related to Ordering and Ranking comes in the form of comprehension of 2-3 questions. The frequently asked question in the exam will judge your abilities of counting from back as well as overlapping counts from front and back. To master it, the students should practice 10 to 15 questions daily to enhance their speed of solving questions accurately.
